My name is Anna Ribas and I am a child and adolescent psychologist and family therapist. Since the beginning of my career, I have been very curious to understand how families face the major changes involved in becoming mothers and fathers. This led me to specialise in childhood and adolescence, supporting children, adolescents and their families, both in my private practice and in child protection services.
I specialise in supporting processes of loss and grief, such as the death of someone close, a separation within the family or any major change that brings uncertainty, such as the transition to adolescence or the birth of a new brother or sister, moments that can also mean an important transition for the family.
In my work, I believe the most important thing is to create a safe and trusting space where children and adolescents feel heard and understood. Every process is unique, so I always adapt to their needs. Sometimes the work focuses on helping them face what worries them or holds them back. At other times, the focus is on accompanying them until they are ready to talk about what is happening to them.
Although the intervention is focused on the child, it is also essential to work with families. I help them understand what their children are going through, make sense of it and find tools to support them through the process they are experiencing.
