We support teenagers, young people and families through times of change, distress or emotional difficulty.
Pre-adolescence, adolescence and youth are stages of great transformation. Emotional difficulties, family conflicts, insecurities or situations that can cause suffering, both for young people and for those around them, often arise.
At Umera we offer a safe, approachable space where teenagers, young people and families can understand what is happening, make sense of their distress and build tools to cope with it in a healthy way.
Our individual psychological work is aimed mainly at teenagers and young people aged 10 and over. We also support parents who want to better understand what is happening with their children, look at family dynamics, work on educational and emotional tools, or deal with difficulties around parenting, boundaries, communication and emotional regulation at home.
Many teenagers feel that nobody really understands what they are going through. Sometimes they put it into words; at other times they express it through their behaviour, withdrawal, irritability or emotional shutdown.
We work from a warm, respectful and flexible perspective. The aim is not only to reduce distress, but to foster a more secure, autonomous identity that is true to who they are.
When children are young, many difficulties are not just about the child, but also about family dynamics, boundaries or communication. That is why we offer parenting guidance and support sessions.
We hold a first session with the parents or adult caregivers, assess the family situation and advise you on what kind of support may be most helpful for you.
If you recognise yourself in any of these situations, ask for help.
The questions we are asked most often before starting.
Individual psychological work is aimed mainly at teenagers and young people aged 10 and over. With families of younger children, the work focuses on parenting and guidance for parents.
We hold a first session with the parents or adult caregivers, assess the family situation and advise on what support may be most helpful. The work focuses on the adults and, if clinically useful, the psychologist may hold an exploratory session with the child.
If we feel a specific child-focused psychological approach is important, we refer you to trusted specialist professionals or centres, depending on the needs of each case.
It is a first meeting with our specialist psychologist to better understand the situation, assess the family’s needs and advise on what kind of support may be most suitable in each case.
